We're delighted to announce that from the 1st of July 2013 we'll be joining forces with Bethnal Green Ventures and Nesta to further develop our cloud-based collaborative editing service.

We've seen writeLaTeX continue to grow significantly through the first half of 2013, and are excited to have this opportunity to work with Paul and the BGV team to build on what's been achieved so far to create an integrated cloud-based writing and editing service for scientific publishing.

We'll be posting regular updates throughout the coming months, and the existing writeLaTeX service will continue to operate and be supported as normal whilst we work on these new developments.

    About BGV and Nesta

    BGV Logo

Bethnal Green Ventures is "an accelerator programme for people who want to change the world using technology", and today announced the ten teams selected to be part of their summer cohort.

Aiming to find and support the most talented startup founders and help them create technology based solutions to the world’s most pressing social and environmental problems, BGV want to demonstrate that solutions don’t have to be expensive or top-down and that a small group of talented people can re-imagine how social problems are addressed without the need for large amounts of government funding.

    Nesta Logo

Believing that innovation is critical to solving the big social and economic challenges facing the UK, Nesta is "an independent charity with a mission to help people and organisations bring great ideas to life".

Nesta doesn’t work alone, forming partnerships with other innovators, community organisations, educators and investors too.

We'll be based at their offices in central London, as they've been busy turning their Lovelace space into a creative home for the ten start-ups.

The ten teams (in alphabetical order):

    • Makoto Inoue and team will be transforming the MOOC experience with Benkyo Player, a web app to make educational video subtitles searchable.
